Top 5 Riverside Hotels in Chiang Rai with Incredible River Views

Chiang Rai is my favourite place in Northern Thailand. It is so worth staying there for at least a night to fully experience it. But also because my 2nd favourite stay in my 2 weeks journey across Thailand was exactly in Chiang Rai (the first one goes to Bangkok and the infinity pool hotels there). I’ve never felt so relaxed nor had such a tranquil retreat. And the main reason was because I stayed at the riverside hotel. While there are some really nice boutique hotels in the city centre too, staying by the river is the best hotel experience you can have in Chiang Rai. Therefore, I created a list of top 5 riverside hotels for you to choose from.

Le Meridien Chiang Rai Resort

This is personally my favourite hotel in Chiang Rai. When I was searching for where to stay, Le Meridien came up on every list, and it’s obvious why. The value is unbeatable for a 5 star resort, and the Kok River views are stunning (a tributary of Mekong). You’ve got three outdoor pools to choose from, and the rooms all have balconies for those perfect morning coffee moments and late evening drinks.

Plus, the moment you step in, you’d be left in awe with the beautiful Lanna style architecture. They thought of every single detail.

Beside the swimming pool area, I also enjoyed their Italian restaurant next to the river – make sure to have dinner at the sunset time, it is so gorgeous and romantic. 🥹

Riva Vista Riverfront Resort Chiang Rai

Riva Vista is a beautiful riverside resort in Chiang Rai and while it is loved by any kind of traveller, families particularly like this resort.

What’s really cool to me is that they have bathtubs in rooms next to the floor-ceiling window with river views – super romantic if you ask me! And don’t worry, there’s an outdoor swimming pool too.

The Legend Chiang Rai Boutique River Resort & Spa

The Legend is such a peaceful riverside retreat. I love how it combines traditional Thai Lanna architecture with modern design, all right on the Kok River.

The outdoor pool is surrounded by lush gardens, and the whole place has a relaxing vibe. Make sure to dine by the river—the food and views are amazing. The vibe is very similar to Le Meridien, but is approximately 30% cheaper!
