11 Best Luxury Hotels in Lisbon City Centre

If you’re looking for the best luxury hotels in Lisbon in the city centre, I’ve got you covered! I compiled a list of 11 best luxury hotels in Lisbon’s historic centre only. These neighbourhoods are: Avenida da Liberdade, Bairro Alto, Baixa de Lisboa and Chiado.

Personally, I loved Avenida da Liberdade the most, which is also the most luxurious part of Lisbon. All the luxury stores, such as Louis Vuitton, Rolex, Chanel are in the area, which is to no surprise than that some of the most luxurious hotels are exactly here too.

Hotel Britania Art Deco

Hotel Britania Art Deco

Hotel Britania Art Deco is one of the best luxury hotels in Lisbon, especially because it’s affordable!

The hotel was opened on October 13th 1944 and was intact for 3 decades. In the 70s the hotel underwent significant changes, including removal of the fresco paintings in the Reception and Bar areas. Fortunately in the 80s it was reversed back to display its original features, including the frescoes and marble floor. You will notice it as soon as you enter the building.

I loved our stay there a lot! Firstly, it is located in Avenida da Liberdade which is about a 15 minute walk from the main sites of Lisbon, but distant enough to skip the crowds and have a taste of local life.

Each evening before going back to the hotel, we had drinks in the cafe at the avenue where we drank local wine for £2 and beer for £1.80!

And then once back at the hotel, we were greeted with the complimentary porto local wine every evening during our stay (and we stayed in the hotel for 5 nights!).

I cannot recommend Hotel Britania more!

The One Palácio da Anunciada

The One Palácio da Anunciada is a 5-star luxury hotel in Lisbon city centre, only a few metres from Avenida da Liberdade.

It is located in a 16th century palace, but beside the beautiful interior, I love the garden area even more. The garden is very big, about 2500 square metres (about 26k square ft), and it features a protected 100 year old dragon tree!

Also, there’s an amazing rooftop pool where you can refresh, especially if you’re visiting in summer months.

Hotel Avenida Palace

Hotel Avenida Palace is one of the best luxury hotels in Lisbon.

It’s located in a 19th century building and has amazing views of St. George’s Castle. Not to mention it’s in a great location – at the end of Avenida da Liberdade.

I especially love that they have a music program each month at their Palace Lounge – from Soft Jazz, Classical Music to Fado. The music program usually lasts from 7 pm to 8 pm and is free for the guests.

The best thing? It’s quite affordable given it’s a 5-star luxury hotel!

Heritage Avenida Liberdade

By now you may have noticed I really love hotels in Avenida da Liberdade! That’s because this location is really the best in the Lisbon city centre, but not so many people promote it!

Anyways, Heritage Avenida Liberdade is a beautiful luxury 4-star hotel in the area.

It is located in an 18th century building and was decorated by the world’s famous architect, Miguel Cancio Martins.

Altis Avenida Hotel is in the heart of Lisbon. Most of the main sites, like Santa Justa Lift, Rua Augusta, are within walking distance.

Torel Palace Lisbon is one of the most beautiful luxury hotels in Lisbon city centre.

The hotel consists of 3 buildings, two of which are traditional 19th century mansions.

If you’re visiting in summer months, you’d be able to enjoy the outdoor pool.
