Go to a Romantic Dinner at a High-End Restaurant
One of the best things about London is a choice of restaurants and places to eat. When celebrating a special occasion, like Valentine’s Day, I always like to treat my husband and me with a nice dinner.
That usually involves fine dining in a high-end restaurant, so I definitely recommend you to do the same. So, if you end up doing this, definitely reserve a table weeks ahead as popular restaurants tend to get booked up quickly.
Here’s a list of some of the restaurants I’ve personally been to and enjoyed:
- Hakkasan Mayfair
- Ting Shard
- Goodman City
- Gloria London
- Gaucho Richmond
- 14 Stories
- Sushisamba London
- Madera at Treehouse London
- Amazonico

Book a River Cruise
One of the most romantic things you can do in London for Valentine’s Day is booking a dinner river cruise.
The dinner cruise runs for 3h and includes a glass of prosecco upon arrival and a 3-course meal.
During the cruise, you will pass by London’s main attractions, like Tower Bridge, so it’d definitely be one of the moments you’ll remember forever.
✅ Consider taking this best rated River Thames Dinner Cruise.

Experience London from the Skydeck
One of the best things you can do in London generally is to experience it from one of the skydecks.
However, it is also a great thing to do for Valentine’s Day because most of these skydecks have bars and cafes, so you can soak up the views together with your partner.
My favourite skydeck is Horizon22, and the best thing is that it’s completely free to visit. You can book your spot online, or walk-in at the next available slot.
Other great skydecks are:
- Skygarden (also free!)
- The Shard
- St Paul’s Cathedral (the dome)
- London Eye
✅ If you plan on going inside London’s main attractions, then I highly recommend getting a London City Pass. The more attractions you cover, the more you save.

Take a Nice Walk in the Park
One of nicest and free things you can do in London for Valentine’s Day is to simply take a nice walk in one of the parks.
My favourite is Hyde Park, but here are some other parks I love too:
- Regent’s Park & Primrose Hill
- Hampstead Heath Park
- Battersea Park
- Richmond Park
- Greenwich Park
Even though London gets quite cold in February, that’s what personally makes the walk even more romantic as the lights are dim and there are fewer people around.

Stay in a Luxury Hotel with the View
London doesn’t lack the great views, especially of main landmarks, so one of the best things to do for Valentine’s Day is to stay in a luxury hotel with the view.
Here’s the list of my top 3 hotel picks for you:
- Shangri-La The Shard – the best views of Tower Bridge
- The Savoy – Taylor Swift loves to stay here
- Corinthia London – beautiful views of London Eye and the riverside

Have Drinks in a Cosy Pub
Another thing that London doesn’t lack are the pubs! With so many choices, it’s hard to pick the best one.
However, there are some really nice cosy pubs perfect for drinks on Valentine’s Day.
Here are my top 3 picks for you:
- George Inn – the only remaining galleried inn in London
- Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese – one of the oldest pubs in London
- The Churchill Arms – one of the most beautiful pubs in London, especially for Christmas

Watch a Romantic West End Musical
One of my favourite activities in London is to watch a West End Musical.
There are so many great shows to choose from, and it really depends what couple you are and what things you love to watch.
However, here are the best romantic West End Musicals, perfect for your Valentine’s Date Night:
- Les Miserables – my favourite & story of broken dreams, unrequited love and passion
- Phantom of the Opera – a classic & tragic love story
- Moulin Rouge! – a story of romance and splendour
- Mamma Mia! – a story of love, laughter and friendship

Go on a Candlelight Concert
Besides a West End Show, you can also go on a candlelight concert for a perfect romantic set up on Valentine’s Day.
Here are my top 3 candlelight concerts for you:
- Valentine’s Moonlight Sonata by Candlelight at St Mary Le Strand – only runs for Valentine’s Day
- Chopin & Champagne by Candlelight – includes a complimentary glass of champagne on arrival
- Candlelight: Ed Sheeran Meets Coldplay – a perfect choice for fans

Take a Day Trip
If you’ve been to London many times, or you live here like me, then you can also take a day trip from London.
I haven’t done this for Valentine’s Day, but my husband and I celebrated our anniversary in Stonehenge and Salisbury, and it ended up being such a nice way to spend a special day with your loved one.
