Lake Como is my favourite part of Italy. A combination of beautiful nature surrounded with the Alps and lake, gorgeous villas and cutest towns is what’s making it a truly unique place to visit. In this blog post I am sharing with you top 12 hotels in Lake Como with beautiful lake view because coming to Lake Como and not staying in a place with the view would be a big mistake.

This list covers from some of the highest luxury hotels to affordable private apartments with one main thing in common – stunning Lake Como views.

⚠️ Before we go into recommendations, I just want to emphasise that not all rooms in these hotels have the view of Lake Como, so if you’re specifically looking for a room that has it, make sure to read the rooms descriptions before booking. On the other hand, all hotels on this list have a common area with beautiful lake views.

Hotel Villa Cipressi

I started this list with Villa Cipressi because not only is this one of the best hotels you can stay at in Lake Como, but even if you aren’t, you can still visit the villa grounds. Actually, Villa Cipressi is one of the best villas you can visit in Lake Como.

Hotel Villa Cipressi is at the waterfront of Lake Como, so the great views are guaranteed. What’s even better is that it is much more affordable than some other luxury hotels on this list. If you love affordable luxury stays like me, then this is a great choice!

P. S. I don’t even have to mention that you will have free access to the gardens which visitors pay to visit otherwise!

View House – Lake Como

View House – Lake Como is a cosy private apartment in Lecco, a more residential town of Lake Como. We booked our trip to Lake Como quite last minute and a lot of hotels were already booked, especially in Varenna and Bellagio, which are the most popular towns.

We also rented a car, so it was quite important for us that the hotel has free parking. And most importantly, we had to have the views of Lake Como and a balcony where we could relax in the evenings! I was just laid off from a high tech company at that point, so affordability was one of the key criteria too.

And a place that ticked off all the boxes was View House – Lake Como. Honestly, I cannot recommend it more! The host was such a nice lady who shared with us local’s tips and hidden gems and was very respectful of our privacy (the apartment is completely yours and the whole correspondence with the host is via WhatsApp).

The apartment is nice and simple. But the balcony was awesome! We enjoyed panoramic views of Lake Como every morning and evening. There’s not a better way to end your day sipping a glass of wine, talking with your partner and soaking up the views. Oh, and it is so peaceful. Just what I needed at the time.

If you’re renting a car (which I personally recommend), this apartment is a really great choice!

Hilton Lake Como

Hilton Lake Como is one of the best hotels in Lake Como with the view, especially from its outdoor infinity pool!

I love staying in hotels with awesome infinity pools, so if this is something you’re after, Hilton is a great choice, especially if booked in advance.

What I also love is that there are suites with private balconies and an outdoor tub, perfect for relaxing and soaking up the views privately.

Villa Belvedere Como Lake Relais

Villa Belvedere Como Lake Relais is a really nice affordable choice.

They have their own small private beach area with sunbeds and umbrellas with water stairs leading to Lake Como. On a hot summer day you can actually swim in Lake Como, so this is a great choice for refreshing after or before sightseeing.

There are rooms and suites with beautiful Lake Como views and a restaurant by the lake too.

The hotel is only a 14 minute short drive to Villa del Balbianello, so it’s way easier to get to the most famous villa of Lake Como from there than from Bellagio or Varenna, especially if you rented a car.

Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni

Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni is one of the most prestigious historic hotels in Lake Como. It is located in Bellagio which is the most famous and touristy Lake Como town.

I’m not sure if I love the interior, the exterior or the views the most. Everything about this hotel is just gorgeous! The rooms are decorated in the neoclassical style, so if you’re nostalgic about the old times, this is truly one of the best places to stay.

Beside that, they have an amazing outdoor swimming pool and rooms with some of the best views of Lake Como. Plus, they have a private beach too!

If your budget allows it, I highly recommend staying at Villa Serbelloni.

Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como

Mandarin Oriental is one of the most luxurious hotels in Lake Como.

Not only is the interior gorgeous and fits the king, but the views of Lake Como are one of the best.

What is amazing about Mandarin Oriental is that they have a pool on the lake!

If you’re into luxury, beautiful views and peaceful vibes outside of the main tourist hub, this is a great choice for you then!

Hotel Du Lac Menaggio

Hotel Du Lac Menaggio is right in the heart of Menaggio. I loved the main square there which is filled with cafes and restaurants, including the one by Du Lac Menaggio. We actually had coffee and tiramisu there and it was so delicious. The food looked great too!

Beautiful views are guaranteed if you stay at Du Lac, especially from the infinity pool!
What’s great is that this hotel is really affordable and therefore a great value for price.

Hotel Royal Victoria

Hotel Royal Victoria is one of the most romantic hotels in Lake Como. It is located in Varenna, which was my favourite town of Lake Como.

The hotel has gorgeous views of the lake. Even if you’re not staying there, you can dine in their restaurant with the famous Lake Como view that has blown up on Instagram.

The interesting fact about the hotel is that while standard rooms with no view are often really affordable (especially in the low season), their suites with balconies and the view are 5x more expensive at times! So, if you don’t mind not having a room with the view and would love to experience this famous hotel, you can do it for a fair price.

Of course, the suites with balconies and the views are so dreamy, so if you can afford them, go for it!

Grand Hotel Tremezzo

Grand Hotel Tremezzo is the best hotel in Lake Como, and probably the most popular one.

It is located in Tremezzo, very close to Villa Carlotta, which you have to visit.
The hotel is mostly famous for its outdoor pool on the lake and the private beach area.

The views of Lake Como are guaranteed from Grand Hotel Tremezzo, especially if you book a suite with the private rooftop terrace.

Even if you won’t be staying there, you can still visit for drinks and food.

Hotel Belvedere

Not to be confused with Villa Belvedere – the Hotel Belvedere is one of the best hotels in Bellagio.

It is on a small hill, which means you get the panoramic views of Lake Como. I love that the hotel has been owned by 4 generations of women since 1880!

Hotel Belvedere only runs from April to October FYSA.

Hotel Villa Flori

When searching for the best hotels in Lake Como with the lake view, Hotel Villa Flori always comes up within the top 5 recommendations. And for a good reason!

It’s a restored 19th century villa where the Italian general Giuseppe Garibaldi (who united Italy) got married. It’s a very romantic hotel with beautiful views of Lake Como.

Some rooms with balconies will give you a feeling like you’re floating above the lake. I don’t know about you, but I love starting my days looking at the blue water – it’s just so relaxing!

What’s great too is that the prices are pretty reasonable, especially in low season!

La Terrazza di Casarico

And last but not the least on our list of best hotels in Lake Como with the lake view is La Terrazza di Casarico.

Similar to View House this is also a privately owned apartment with an awesome terrace where you can enjoy Lake Como views privately.

It’s a really nice and affordable option for your stay in Lake Como.
